He returned to the U.S. in November 2003 and retired from service in August 2004.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Mayor Pequeño went on to serve with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and became the first-ever Homeless Liaison Officer, bringing innovative solutions to homelessness in Orange County. He retired from the Sheriff’s Department in March of 2020 as a Sergeant and was elected to the Lake Forest City Council in November 2020.
